Going on a South Dakota road trip provides the traveler with a mix of the beautiful sceneries, history and an amazing journey. Whether you are hiking through to Mount Rushmore, walking around the Badlands or even engaging in the wilderness of Custer State Park, the fun never ends. Start in the town known as the Gateway to the Black Hills, Rapid City is a relaxed town with both the natural beauty and historical feel of a frontier town. To get a glimpse of the towns past, visit the Days of 76 Museum or go take a walk at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Spearfish Canyon is a beautiful gorge that is filled with waterfalls, dense forest, and high limestone cliffs that are worth a drive after your Deadwood experience. South Dakota has a number of beautiful byways, but the scenic one is more interesting as it provides number of worthy stops.
If one is a motorcycle enthusiast, it is advisable to refuel in Sturgis because its a town that motorcycles lovers should not miss. Go to the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame that is devoted to the towns famous annual motorcycle rally. Rally history and a great set of bikes are waiting for the visitors.
On the final day, it would be a good idea to visit Wall. It is a brightly colored and quirky break from the driving with shops and restaurants and photo opportunities at every turn.
